So I didn’t win the Boston Comedy Fest (Frownies!). It was fun while it lasted. I honestly didn’t think I would win before it all began anyway. It wasn’t until I did so well in that first round that I started to think “Hey, I might have a shot at this!”. That 10k grand prize sure would’ve been nice to have, but it just wasn’t my time. I’m looking forward to entering next year and I will be 10x better by then with a legit chance to be the winner of the whole thing!
I think I caught the festival bug though. I’m already looking into other festivals to enter before next year’s BCF. 2016 is gonna see a big expansion in the reach of AJ Foster Comedy. I wanna go to LA, Texas, NC, VA, DC, Iowa… yes IOWA! There are festivals all around this country and I wanna be a part of them! I have to grow so much if I’m gonna reach the level I want my career to be at soon and I’m ready to put the work in.
Upcoming shows for this weekend include the NY Wine and Culinary Center in Canandaigua for a stop on Aaron David Ward’s ‘Not Too Far From Home’ Comedy Tour where I’ll be working with him and Andy Pitz on Friday. Then Saturday, I’ll be in Auburn, NY opening for Chaunte Wayans at the Auburn Public Theater. I’m very excited to meet Chaunte because, as you all know, I am a huge fan of the entire Wayans family. I think it's dope that the next generation of Wayans are building their own careers and leaving their mark on the entertainment world. I love the "Second Generation Wayans" series and I was mad that BET canceled it! I’ve gone on record several times saying that I wanted to be in their family lol I’m gonna do my best to curb my inner-groupie and just be professional when I show up for “work” that night. I’ll let ya know how it goes! Peace!
